Question Paper Leak
SSC test put off in 55 schools
Magura district administration yesterday postponed SSC test examination in 54 non-government high schools in Magura Sadar upazila following alleged leak of mathematics question paper.
Meanwhile, acting upazila secondary education officer yesterday issued show cause notice on the headmaster of Nabagram High School in Kalkini upazila under Madaripur district as the question papers of the SSC test examinations in the school were leaked, reports a correspondent from Madaripur.
The UNO ordered suspension of mathematics examination scheduled for yesterday. It was also decided that the remaining test examinations in the school will be held with fresh question papers.
Several guardians met Magura Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Dilwar Bakht with allegation of leak of mathematics question paper and produced a 'leaked out' question paper yesterday morning, reports our Magura correspondent.
The DC instantly sent a team led by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Gazi Mohammad Rejaul Karim to Abdul Gani Academy High School centre in Magura town to probe the allegation.
As the question paper produced by the guardians resembled those kept with the school authorities, the ADM ordered postponement of the examination.
School authorities concerned usually get the question papers for SSC test examinations prepared but this year the Magura Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer (USEO) himself set the question papers of English and mathematics.
The questions of other subjects, however, were set by teachers of the schools concerned, the source added.
Talking to this correspondent, USEO Abdur Rahim said he composed the question papers according to the decision taken at a meeting held at Dudh Mallik Girls School on August 17 where all the teachers of 54 schools were present.
When asked why he took the responsibility of composing question papers defying the existing system, he said he did it only to prevent question leakage by a section of dishonest teachers.
Regretting the incident, he said probably some teachers leaked the questions after he handed it over to the relevant school authorities on October 8.
Some three thousand students appeared at the test examination from different schools in the upazila, official sources said.
