Criminals strangled a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver on Gohira-Heyako Road under Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong district on Wednesday night, while police arrested the ringleader of a gang of pirates in Hathazari upazila of the district yesterday morning. Police sources said a gang of criminals hired an auto-rickshaw from Kazir Hat area under Fatikchhari upazila at around 10:00pm on Wednesday and attacked its driver Zakir Hossain, 40, when the vehicle reached Joginighat on Gohira-Heyanko Road, according to our staff correspondent from Chittagong. The gang strangled driver Zakir, son of late Musa of Bhujpur village under the upazila, and took away his vehicle, sources added. Hathazari police arrested Badsha Miah alias Kala Badsha, 32, ringleader of a gang of pirates, at Burishwar village yesterday morning, reports UNB. He hails from Nijhum Dwip in Hatiya upazila of Noakhali district. Acting on a tip-off, police raided Burishwar village at around 6:00am and arrested Badsha. He was wanted in 16 criminal cases.
