Bogra lawyers boycott courts

The lawyers of Bogra Bar Association yesterday boycotted courts for three hours from 10:00am demanding arrest of those who allegedly assaulted Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Helalur Rahman Helal on October 12. Members of the local bar association held an emergency meeting the following day and strongly condemned the attack on the additional PP. In the meeting, the lawyers decided to boycott court on October 15 if the persons responsible for assaulting Helal were not arrested by October 14. The meeting also decided that members of the bar association would not provide legal assistance for the attackers who have been made accused in a case filed with Sadar Police Station by the additional PP on the night of October 12. Five people, including Zia Shahin and Dr Solaiman Ali, allegedly assaulted Helalur Rahman Helal over a land dispute in the town on October 12.
