Student's body exhumed 70 days after burial

Police on Tuesday exhumed the body of a female student of Independent University of Dhaka for a second autopsy 70 days after she was buried at Hatimkhan graveyard in Rajshahi. Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam of Tejgaon Police Station with the help of Boalia police exhumed the body of Faria Fahruj Badhon, 21, in presence of Magistrate Zahid Hossain Siddique at 12:30pm. The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for a second post-mortem examination, said Shahidul Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case. Badhon died in Dhaka on August 16 and was buried in Rajshahi after autopsy at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The first autopsy report said Badhon died from hanging and police later submitted the final report, terming it a suicide. Badhon's mother Shamima Yasmin challenged the final report in a Dhaka court that passed the ordered for a second autopsy.
