Personal land of a freedom fighter and an adjoining graveyard at Shajapur village in Shahajahanpur upazila of Bogra district have allegedly been captured by a local Awami League (AL) leader. Locals said Md Nasir Uddin Bablu, organising secretary of Shahajahanpur upazila unit of AL, has illegally occupied three decimal land of a graveyard and 5.50 decimal land of freedom fighter ABM Musa by using his party influence. "After receiving a complaint regarding the disputed land from ABM Musa on October 10, we asked both Musa and Md Nasir Uddin Bablu to show their documents. Failing to be sure about validity of their documents, we have suggested them to go to the court for solving the matter. We also served notice not to go the disputed land before court decides on the matter,” said Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shahajahanpur Police Station. Freedom fighter ABM Musa said he purchased 5.50 decimal land from local woman Morium Bibi in 2007 but AL leader Bablu occupied it on September 12 this year. AL leader Nasir Uddin Bablu told this correspondent over cell phone that he purchased the graveyard from Dhalu Miah, an employee of Public Works Department. Bablu claimed that he had purchased 7 decimal of land at Tk 10,000 per decimal six months ago. But his claim, especially about price of the land, seems strange as a local union parishad member said that the government purchased some land for a post office in the area at Tk 86.000 per decimal about two years ago. "After my father's death 40 years ago, I buried him in this graveyard. I also buried my mother and sister here about 36 and 30 years ago. But the graveyard has been occupied by Awami League leader Md Nasir Uddin Bablu,” said Keramot Ali, 90. Part of the land occupied by the ruling party man had been used as graveyard from before the Liberation War, said a number of locals including Md Abdul Haque.
