Rival faction in Moulvibazar holds counter confce

Internal feud in Moulvibazar BNP has deepened over holding conferences of upazila and municipal units. Two factions of the district unit--one led by district Convener M Naser Rahman and another by Joint Convener Khaleda Rabbani--are holding conference and counter conference of upazila and municipal units. Senior leaders of the district unit and seven out of nine joint conveners have extended their support to Khaleda Rabbani. They urged the central committee to remove Naser Rahman from the post of convener. Intra-party conflict in Moulvibazar BNP surfaced after formation of the convening committee with Naser Rahman as convener in June this year. To avert factional clash, pro-Naser faction leaders of Baralekha upazila BNP held their conference in Moulvibazar town on Saturday. District BNP Convener Naser Rahman attended the conference as chief guest. On the same day, Kulaura upazila BNP leaders loyal to district BNP Joint Convener Khaleda Rabbani held upazila unit conference at Zafrin Community Center at Kulaura. Khaleda Rabbani attended the conference as chief guest. On Friday, pro-Naser faction of district BNP held Moulvibazar Municipal unit's conference at M Saifur Rahman auditorium. But no committee of the unit was formed. Two factions of Rajnagar upazila BNP held separate conferences of upazila unit at Rajnagar Golf Center. Pro-Naser faction held its conference on November 2 while pro-Rabbani faction on November 12. Naser Rahman backed Moulvibazar Sadar upazila BNP conference will be held at Saifur Rahman auditorium today. Khaleda Rabbani faction will hold Moulvibazar Municipal unit conference at pourasava auditorium the same day.
