Court cancels bail of five

The Chief Judicial Magistrate's (CJM) Court yesterday cancelled bail of five Indian nationals and asked them to appear before court on December 22. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Saifuzzaman Hero passed the order as the five failed to turn up in the court. Court sources said, the Indians got bail from Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Abul Bashar Munshi's court on October 28 submitting fake nationality and birth certificates. The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) granted the bail on condition of Tk 5 thousand bond for each and due to their guarantors Sajek Union Parishad chairman L-Thanga Pangkhuya and defence lawyer Abdul Malek Mintu. The chairman's certificates showed the five Indians as villagers of Luithian Para under Sajek union of Bagaichhari upazila in Rangamati district although police placed the charges in the court on September 15 terming them as Indian nationals. Sources said, L-Thanga Pangkhuya issued the nationality certificates on October 19. The serial numbers of the nationality certificates were 441-445. Earlier, he issued birth certificates in the name of same Indians on August 30 last year. Their serial numbers were 24224-24228. All five Indians were enlisted serially although they are members of separate families, sources said. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dighinala police station Subash Chandra Pal said, the five Indians intruded into Bangladesh territory on August 17. A case was filed with Dighinala police station under Border Cross Act, 1952, he said. He further said, army and police in a joint drive detained Oadhish Narzari, 35, Pabitra Gowari, 25, Dhiren Khakori, 25, Jonathan Basumothari, 35, and Pradip Nargery, 30, from Noymail Kironchandra Para area under Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari. All the five arrestees hailed from Indian state of Assam, he added.
