Youth gets life for rape

Woman and Children Repression Prevention Court yesterday sentenced a youth to life term imprisonment for rape of a disabled girl. According to the prosecution story, convict Sumon,29, son of Azahar Ali of village Barapukuria under Singra upazila raped disabled Mokseda Khatun,16, in a sugacane field on July 2, 2004. Mokseda's mother Salema Khatun filed a case with Singra police station in this connection. Police, investigating the case, submitted a charge sheet to the court. After examining the witnesses and relevant documents, judge SM Zahurul Islam pronounced the verdict.
