Thousands pay tribute to Bhasani at Santosh

The 33rd anniversary of death of veteran political leader Maolana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani was observed here yesterday. To mark the day, different political, social and cultural organisations arranged various programmes at the mazar of the leader at Santosh. Maolana Bhasani University of Science and Technology (MBUST) and different other local organisations arranged a five-day long programme to pay homage to the legendary leader. The progammes included placing wreaths, offering fateha and holing a doa mahfil at his graveyard, special prayer, destitute feeding, discussion meeting, Bhasani fair, blood donation, session of spiritual songs, photo exhibition and handicraft show at Santosh. Thousands of admires of Maolana Bhasani from different parts of the country and outside came to his mazar at Santosh and paid tributes to the leader of the oppressed people. In the morning, teachers and students, officials and employees of Maolana Bhasani University of Science and Technology (MBUST) led by vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Nurul Islam, and family members of Maolana placed wreath at the graveyard. It was followed by different political parties and social and cultural organisations. Tangail City and Sadar unit BNP organised a meeting attended by top BNP leaders. MBUST organised a photo exhibition on Bhasani while Bhasani Foundation organised a five-day Bhasani Fair on MBUST campus. Broty, a local organisation, arranged a blood donation programme.
