Drug addict youth kills housewife

A housewife was brutally killed by an addicted youth at Sadipur village under Sadar upazila yesterday as she refused to give him money for buying drug. Ill-fate China Begum,40, was daughter of late Abdul Khaleq Fakir. Locals said, at around 10 am, neighbour Shahin, 30, went to Chaina's house and demanded an amount as loan. An altercation began as Chaina refused to give loan. At one stage, Shahin hacked Chaina with an axe killing her on the spot. Shahin is a former student of Faridpur Medical College. He left the college several years ago as he became addicted to drug, locals said. Police went to the spot and recovered the body. Shahin went into hiding. In Natore, a housewife was severely burnt yesterday as criminals threw acid on her following a dispute over a piece of land at Rishi Naogoan village under Sadar upazila. Victim Khadeza Begam,20, is wife of Jewel of the village, reports a correspondent. Police quoting witnesses said, Motaleb Ali, son of Abu Taher Motaleb of village Rishi Naogaon threw acid on Khadeza as he wanted to grab her mother's land but Khadeza resisted.
