Two bomb-like objects recovered at Chandpur

Police recovered two bomb-like objects from Kalibari Railway Station in Chandpur town yesterday morning. Police cordoned off the railway station after recovering the devices at about 10:00am. Panic gripped the district town following the incident ahead of verdict in Bangabandhu murder case. Police picked up three people, including a beggar, for interrogation. Chandpur police superintendent (SP) Krishna P Roy told journalists that two bomb-like objects were recovered from a polythene bag kept under a bench in front of the ticket counter of the station. The SP said, they are waiting for the army bomb experts to examine those today. He said, the bomb-like objects were put in a water-filled bucket for safety. Quoting the beggar, officer in-charge (OC) of Chandpur model police station Abdul Kaiyum said, one Lengra Jalal put the polythene bag under the bench and left the place. On information, station master Shafiqur Rahman informed police.
