10 injured during Satkania robbery

Ten people including three robbers were injured during a robbery at Maijpara village in Satkania upazila early yesterday. Police said, a gang of 20/25 robbers stormed into the houses of Chhadaha UP member Golam Sobhan and his neighbour M Yusuf at about 3:30am and started looting gold ornament, cash and valuables. As the inmates of Sobhan's house tried to resist the gang, the robbers severely beat them up, leaving seven, including Sobhan, injured. At one stage, inmates of the two houses cried out for help when the gang was preparing to decamp with the booty. Hearing their hue and cry, villagers rushed in and caught three gang members. They gave them a good beating and later, handed them over to police. Two of the robbers were identified as Mohammad Hares, 40, ring leader of an inter-district robbers' gang, and his accomplice Enamul Huq, 34. Hares was admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition while the two others to local health complex.
