Disgruntled party men sue Delwar, 6 others

BNP Secretary General Khondaker Delwar Hossain, Joint Secretary General (in charge of Sylhet division) Nazrul Islam Khan and five others have been sued on charge of forming Jamalganj upazila unit committee under Sunamganj district illegally. Four leaders of the unit, who were dropped from the newly formed committee, filed the case with the Assistant Judge's Court (Jamalganj) in Sunamganj on Sunday. The complainants are former president of upazila Krishak Dal Nurul Haque Afendi, former vice-president of upazila BNP Tajuddin, former joint secretary Wali Ullah Sarker and former general secretary of Juba Dal upazila unit Abdul Malik. The complainants alleged that the committee of the upazila unit was declared on October 29, ignoring the opinion of the leaders activists of the unit. They sought court orders for declaring the committee illegal and restricting its activities. The judge asked the defendants to show cause within seven days why the newly formed committee of Jamalganj upazila BNP should not be declared illegal. The other accused in the case are Sunamganj district BNP Convener and former whip Fazlul Haque Aspia and district BNP Joint Convener Dr Rafique Chowdhury, upazila BNP Convener Abdur Rab, Joint Convener Abu Saleh and Organising Secretary Mohammad Ali.
