Acid victims hold procession

Scores of acid victims, mostly women and children, brought out a procession in Bogra town yesterday morning to raise awareness against acid violence. Acid Survivors Foundation (ASF) and Bogra based NGO Light House jointly organised the occasion. At least 55 out of 130 acid victims in Bogra district took part in the procession followed by a regional conference at local Zila Parisad Auditorium. Two acid burnt children, Ayesha,7, from Nandigram and Shima, 6, from Shibganj upazila also joined the conference. Light House sources said that more than 2500 goldsmiths are using sulphuric and other acids in Bogra district without any license.
