A local Jubo League leader was arrested in Dhunat upazila yesterday on charge of extortion. Police arrested Saidul Islam, organising secretary of Jubo League Dhunat unit, after local trader Moqbul Hossain filed an extortion case against him with Dhunat Police Station in the morning. Moqbul alleged that Saidul took away Tk 5,000 and a cell phone from him in Chikasi area of the upazila on Monday night. He further said the Jubo League leader also demanded Tk 7,000 more him. Police produced the accused in a court that sent him to jail. Saidul, also the general secretary of Dhunat Upazila Deed Writers' Association, had earlier took away Tk 60,000 from a land seller. A GD was filed with the police station concerned.
