Two killed in Jamalpur, 50 hurt in N'ganj, Sirajganj
Two people were killed and 10 injured in Jamalpur while 50 others injured in Narayanganj and Sirajganj districts on Tuesday in clashes over disputed lands.
Two people, who sustained serious injuries in a fierce clash between two rival groups at Charpalisha village in Melandah upazila of Jamalpur district on Sunday, died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Tuesday, reports UNB.
The victims were identified as Ibrahim and Badar Ali of the village.
Police said there was a longstanding dispute between Abul Hossain and his neighbour Mostaq over the ownership of land property. On Sunday, Mostaq took possession of the disputed land.
The clash ensued when Abul along with his men went to recapture the land on Monday. The clash injured 10 people from both sides.
The injured were rushed to the local hospital. Later, Ibrahim and Badar were shifted to MMCH where they died.
Ibrahim's uncle Amjad Hossain filed a murder case with the police.
Our Correspondent in Narayanganj reports: At least 15 people were injured in two separate incidents of clashes over disputed lands in Araihazar of Narayanganj district on Tuesday.
Two of the injured were admitted into Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition.
In a clash between two families over a piece of land at Baherchar village under Khakhanda union of the upazila Tuesday night. Five people including Ratan, 30, Mosammat Begum, 35 and Mokhtar, 25 were injured. The injured were admitted to upazila health complex.
In a sequel to a long dispute over a cropland between Abdur Rahim and Mofazzal Haque of Dori Bishnondi village under the upazila, a clash erupted when the supporters of Rahim went to capture the land.
Both sides attacked each other with sticks and sharp weapons. At least 10 people including Shamsul Haq, 40, Sohel, 22, Monwar, 45, Abdur Rahim, 48, Peara Begum, 40, Parul, 30 and Mofazzal Haq, 50 were injured.
The injured were admitted to local upazila health complex. Seriously injured Peara Begum and Shamsul Haq were shifted to DMCH.
In Sirajganj, at least 35 people including women and children were injured in a fierce clash between two groups at Dattabarisenpara village in Sadar upazila over a piece of land, according to our correspondent.
Police and locals said, a long-standing land dispute was prevailing between Moksed Ali and Hasen Ali of the village.
In a bid to settle the dispute, some local influential headmen arranged a meeting at around 7.30am. But at a stage, the supporters of both groups got agitated and engaged in a fierce clash. Equipped with lethal weapons they attacked each other and hurled brickbats. They also damaged five houses and two shops and took away valuables from the houses and shops.
Of the injured, 18 of the both groups including Moksed Ali's supporters Anower Hossain, Sultan Mahmud, Rabiul Islam, Hasan Ali, Milon, Arif and Mukul and Hasen Ali's supporters Tara Mondol, Hakim Ali, Delsad Ali, Shahadat Hossain, Ismail Hossain, Shah Alam, Shamsul Islam and Abdur Razzaque were admitted to Sirajganj Sadar hospital. The rest were admitted to different local clinics in the town.
Of the total, condition of nine was stated to be critical.
