Bridge on the Kumar opens

Labour, Employment and Expatriates Welfare Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain on Tuesday inaugurated a bridge on river Kumar linking Rothkhola and East Khabash-pur area of the town. The 110 meter long bridge was built by Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) at an estimated cost of Tk 1.50 crore facilitating the movement of a large volume of traffic on the both sides of the thickly populated area. Addressing the inauguration meeting held at the bridge site, the minister said besides building of road network in this district, the government has paid serious attention to save Faridpur town from the recurring erosion by the river Padma. An amount of Tk 190 crore has been approved recently for town protection work, he added.
