MMCH interns call off indefinite strike
Interns at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) on Wednesday night called off their indefinite strike after a meeting with the hospital authorities and local leaders of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
Earlier, the interns went on an indefinite strike in the morning demanding withdrawal of a senior doctor within 24 hours for her 'rough behaviour' with the interns on November 30.
The senior lady doctor of MMCH Model Clinic allegedly scolded and misbehaved with the interns on the day over the treatment of her son Rifat, 20, who was injured seriously in a road accident.
Following the incident the interns submitted a memorandum to the MMCH authorities.
'We had a fruitful meeting with the interns and Dr. Rawshan Ara last night', said Dr. Matiur Rahman Bhuiyan, secretary of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Mymensingh unit.
He also said that the meeting took cognisance of the demands made by the interns.
