Warrant for arrest of SQ Chy
A court in the port city yesterday issued arrest warrant against BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury in a sedition case filed for delivering 'provocative' speech regarding August 15 and the historic verdict in Bangabandhu murder case.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Akter Hossain issued the warrant in the case filed under sections 124 (ka) and 505 by businessman Abu Taher Uddin, 32, yesterday, said the prosecution lawyer, Additional Public Prosecutor Ashok Kumar Das.
After hearing the judge took the allegation into cognisance and issued arrest warrant against the accused, Ashok said.
At the biennial council of Fatikchhari upazila BNP at a community centre at Bibirhat under the upazila on November 20, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury said that people could not get back their right to vote and get rid of one-party rule if the August 15 incident did not occur, goes the case statement.
He further said that the nation did not accept the verdict of Bangabandhu murder case, it adds.
"Salauddin also asked all to take lesson from the August 15, if necessary," said the plaintiff who observed that the accused disregarded people's patriotism and humanity through his remarks.
Through his false and provocative remarks, Salauddin not only dishonoured the father of the nation but showed disregard to the law, court, democracy and sovereignty of the country alongside encouraging the murderers of Bangabandhu, said the plaintiff.
Earlier, a number of cases were filed against Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, an alleged war criminal, in different districts of the country for his derogatory comment on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day at National Press Club on August 13.
