Fratricide in Meherpur

An elder brother was killed by his younger during a dispute over ancestral land in a village yesterday afternoon. Villagers said, Anwarul Haq of village Amjhupi under Sadar upazila was working in their ancestral land. His elder brother Eskan Ali, 60, came to the place and claimed that it is his portion of the property. It triggered bitter altercation and at one stage Anwarul hit his elder brother with his spade and fled away. The labourers on the nearby fields came to his rescue but Eskan died on way to Meherpur hospital.
