FF beaten to death in Jhenidah

A freedom fighter (FF) was beaten to death in the town over a trifling matter on Friday. Officer-in-charge (OC) Motiar Rahman of Jhenidah Sadar police station said, Nasir uddin son of Ali Ahmed of the town's No: 3 water tank area locked in an altercation with freedom fighter Abdul Khalek over repair of a fishing net. Nasir had asked Khalek to repair the net but he failed to deliver it in due time. At one stage of heated argument, Nasir beat up Khalek mercilessly leaving him unconscious on the spot. Khalek was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar hospital. The on-duty doctor there referred him to Khulna hospital. But as he had no capability to bear the treatment expenses, he was admitted to Al-falah private hospital. There his condition deteriorated. When he was finally being shifted to Khulna hospital, he died on the way at Bishoykhali Bazar at about 11:00pm. Jhenidah Sadar Mukti-joddha Command unit brought out a protest procession with the body of the freedom fighter yesterday and demanded exemplary punishment of the killer.
