Bush appeases Americans!
Oh, no! US president George W. Bush has not accepted his defeat at his terror wars in the Middle East. He surely thinks the Americans do admire him and his Republican Party for protecting the energy and other economic concerns of “his country” across the globe. Intermittent wars are considered vital to protect the national and global interests of the USA. The trumpeting by the Democrats about a sure coming back to White House seems to be in jeopardy, going by his attempts to get back the hearts and minds of the people of the US to his side by wooing them in all possible ways. Maybe, he is right, they appreciate the terror wars being fought in the Islamic world.
One way of how he takes care of his people could be exemplified with a recent decision of his government concerning imports. President Bush has unveiled a new strategy to ensure Safety of Imports. Addressing concerns about the quality of imported foods and consumer products, President George W. Bush outlined a plan on 06 November to shift the US import safety strategy to focus on preventing tainted goods from entering the country.
The action plans also includes a recommendation that the Food and Drug Administration be authorised to recall food products. The White House said that authority would only be exercised when contaminated food poses a threat of serious health consequence or death, or when a company doesn't undertake a voluntary recall. The working group, commissioned in July for amending the import law, issued a final action plan on 07th Nov in response to the recent raft of product recalls. Some of the plan can be implemented administratively, while other parts will require legislation. Bush says if that conflicts with Congress's proposed overhaul of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, his administration would further rectify it. "My administration takes this problem seriously".
Bush, addressing the media after meeting his Interagency Working Group on Import Safety, said the panel was making 14 recommendations, including new incentives for importers to follow safety practices, increased training of import inspectors, and higher penalties for violators of import laws. See what President Bush says in a “patriotic tone” addressing his electorates: “The American people expect our system of import safety to be strong and effective, we will continue to work to make sure it is," Bush said. "This plan will help prevent problems from arising, respond effectively if they do and improve communication with industry and our public."
President Bush didn't say how much the working group's proposals would cost. He knows the money would be sanctioned by the Congress even, if necessary, by using his veto power. It looks as if he is too childish, but he also knows the educated US people could easily be convinced with an emotional touch in speeches. The Republican President is talking about democracy all the time when the “legitimate” Democratic Party is still focused on gathering election funds and not so serious about democracy! The world may say that Bush has lost his wars and ways and that his foreign policy has been a total failure, but he seems to be confident that his party would emerge victorious in the next presidential election.
Hollow emotionalism has the power to fool the electorate not only in underdeveloped countries, but, interestingly, also in the most developed country like the US! That perhaps explains the power of so-called “democracy”'. Hail, Bush!
