Insensitive!

Mehnaz Khan, Shamoly, Dhaka
People were waiting for news of the catastrophic hurricane. As the news-craving people turned on their radios for news, they were disappointed by the constant round of laughter over fan mails, song dedications and non-stop hit tracks that our dear private radio stations were playing. The news update that so many people were waiting for was never aired. Bravo! Our favourite radio stations! Is this what you have for us? This was a case of national emergency. Even the capital was lying powerless. If all this merriment was brought down for a short while and some sympathy was shown to the hurricane hit people, the fans would not have been displeased, I am sure. Yet, I am glad that the suffering people, who are now left homeless and broken, could not hear these stations. Since if they could they would get a totally wrong impression of the city dwellers, thinking that we are in the mood for hit music, while little coastal children started to doubt if their fathers missing in the sea would ever be returning. This has been a pathetic performance from the FM radio stations, we expected something better from you!
