Chittagong issue
I have no intention to influence your decision to act as you think necessary as the Mayor of CCC. But it would be more useful if you kindly keep in mind that you are a non-party candidate though a political sticker has been added. The people of Chittagong have elected you for a change they thought absolutely necessary for the overall development of the city as the commercial capital and the main port. This job will require your statesmanship in running your office democratically without being biased in favour of any political party or your political affiliation, if any.
I do not think that you will have to oblige the BNP or its allies for offering their political support and show allegiance to their highly vegetative political role to cooperate with the government in any case. You need not adhere to this attitude. Chittagong needs full government support to push for development, and the CCC is one of the main wheel to move the process. If you follow negative politics, both you and your programmes will be unsuccessful. The BNP will just use this as another issue for anti-government movement.
I firmly believe that the people of CTG have voted for you for a change and not for the support of the BNP and its allies. The BNP's popularity stands where it was before the mayor election. My final request to you, please do not spoil you own popularity and ability to work as mayor by putting everything in the plate of your political supporters.
If we have understood them correctly, they are not interested in the development of Ctg port, connectivity and other development activities beyond their foreign policy option which is highly communal and detrimental to regional development and Bangladesh. My honest advice to you, sir, would be not to become a political tool in the hands of the politicians. Wish you best of luck. Uphold the hopes and aspirations of Chittagong residents.
