Objectionable remarks
We appreciate Awami League MP Sawkat Momen Shahjahan for his observation which is very sensible and praiseworthy. On May 23, 2010, he expressed his dissatisfaction about the remarks of State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam on BNP's founder Ziaur Rahman, whom Quamrul Islam labelled as a spy who worked for Pakistan during our liberation war.
Sawkat Momen Shahjahan, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on the agriculture ministry said, "The remarks made by our minister are irresponsible and unbecoming of a person holding an important position." We wish that there were more people like him in the government and the opposition political parties, who are respectful of each other and would discard the negative attitude to join hands for the welfare of the country. The politicians should strive to help the people, instead of giving priority to remaining in power or gaining power.
I wonder if this wishful thinking will ever come true.
