Just a joke. Do not take it as any political story. Just assume that the WC final was between Bangladesh and Spain. Can you imagine any ramification of that ? Yes, I can. The Bangladesh team and its management would have boycotted the ceremony in protest of the "doubtful off side goal" awarded to Spain. Further action could even be called for a dawn to dusk "hartal' in Bangladesh to mark a national protest against the "doubtful off side goal". I am sure the "hartal" could be a total success in peaceful atmosphere without any picketing, intimidation and threat, an usual game before and during political hartal.
We have already seen what has happened in Madrid and Amsterdam and how the public have reacted as expected. The most amusing part is the reference to Octopus for the failure of Holland to win. Superstition plays a role everywhere, the Parrot in Singapore and the Witch Fortune Tellers in South America. South Africa deserves all praise for their successful management of the WC and for entertaining the people all over with beautiful traditional dances and songs. The Colombian dancer cum singer was superb; not to forget the Brazilian "Sumba"
On a serious note. The final was not up to the standard because the players were tense and used physical power to win over the opposition. The referring as usual remains questionable. We expect that the American media will come forward to support their soccer teams, and the game would receive highest commercial patronage and public support.
