River pollution and factories

In our country both the state & individuals establish industries & business houses of various trades. I came to Dhaka from Canada to see my parents. I had to go to Chandpur to visit other relatives. I chose waterways, as road journey causes irritation due to traffic jam, sound of hydraulic horn and black smoke. When we reached Sadarghat terminal and got into the launch what I found is anybody's guess. I was sick and coughing. I had to inhale the obnoxious smell of the river Buriganga. The main causes of river pollution is industrial waste and chemicals. The authorities concerned appear to be ignoring the issue.
