Wanton violence
Are we a violent people or a sick people? Whenever there is something wrong people go wild and violent. Please refer to the death of a garment worker from a rooftop fall at Mirpur. Does this constitute sufficient reason for the people to agitate and vandalize, destroying public and private property. What is the motive behind such agitation? Who are responsible for all these agitations resulting in the loss of property worth millions?
Who is the beneficiary? Why is the government so indifferent towards such violent agitations?
I fail to understand why Bangladesh is so indifferent towards such violent demonstrations. Why does not the government act decisively?
As far as I can remember this began in the late 60's. Then there was a genuine cause for such violent demonstration, resulting in an independent Bangladesh. Now almost 40 years after independence, why should the people still behave in an unruly manner. Who are they fighting, who are their opponents? Is it the Frankenstein of the British East India Company, or the Pakistani rulers?
The mindset of the people has simply sickened and they cannot come out of it. It has reached such a point that no persuasion shall work, stern action is necessary to deter the unruly people from such destructive, violent demonstrations. The government for the greater interest of the nation should act decisively instead of being indifferent towards it. We must not forget all violent agitation has an ill omen. We do not wish to see such violent agitation in future.
