Sending our army to Afghanistan
"Of sending men home from the dark and bloody battlefields physically handicapped and psychologically deranged, cannot be reconciled with wisdom, justice and love."
--- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.?
What Martin Luther King said about the consequence of wars is that it can't be repaired, recovered or reconciled by any means. The withdrawal of troops by the Obama administration indicates that they've now somewhat realised the meaning of these words. In war, there is always collateral damage and there always will be. But it seems our government neither knows nor feels this truth. It's obvious to all why the most powerful army in the world is abandoning Afghanistan and Iraq. They want to keep the possession of power over Afghanistan and Iraq, not by their own troops, not by NATO, but by something that is available at low cost, that is, troops from the third world. And there will be no accountability to anyone if anything goes wrong. Eventually, Bangladesh army is a good choice because we have already earned honour by sending our army to UN peace missions in Africa. Why should we pay for their mistakes? Because we are weak, we are poor?
Afghanistan is not like Africa, and it will be beyond our tolerance to lose our brothers in a battlefield where even the most powerful nation failed to hold their tears. We have already given the UN the maximum and we do not want to lose our brave soldiers for the sake of so-called war on terrorism. We don't want martyrs, because we have already paid more than three million lives. Peace, that is all we want, nothing else.
