The government must consider the possibility of unrest that might follow Khaleda Zia's eviction. I want to thank Mr. Saleh Ayub for noticing my writings, which I learned from his letter, published under the caption 'Khaleda Zia's House'. It is heartening to know that there are people who read this column, but I don't know if the authorities concerned notice the letters written by conscious citizens to attract their attention on various problems, giving suggestions and ideas. The observation of Mr. Saleh Ayub about Begum Khaleda Zia's house is very reasonable. At one place he wrote, "I think Begum Khaleda Zia ought to have given away a portion of the land to the families of the victims of the BDR carnage for residential purpose retaining a portion for her, even before being asked by the government." But would it have appeased the government when its sole aim is to evict Begum Khaleda Zia? I don't think it would have worked, because the land is not the main issue; the Awami League government wants Begum Khaleda Zia to vacate the house at any cost.
