“Bottomless basket”
I have read the very perspicacious writing of the WFP Country Director under the above heading published on 15 December.
I feel Mr. Kissinger's comments on Bangladesh do not have any importance today, as with change of the administrative set-up and introduction of effective coherent policy, the country is moving ahead steadily, despite some impediments for smooth growth and development. In the last 25 years the country was under the rule of both autocratic and democratic governments, and the desired level of growth could not be achieved.
Nevertheless, there are areas where we have made good progress as many of our products are now exported to the developed world.
