Govt firm to implement education policy
Says Nahid
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Saturday said the government will surely implement the new education policy despite huge challenges.
“There may be many challenges to implementing the new education policy. But we are determined to accomplish it to bring qualitative changes in the country's education system,” he said.
Nahid was addressing a function titled “Priti Samabesh O Gono Sangeeter Asor” organised by the Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) at the city's Rabindra Sarobor.
The government will distribute 23.22 crore of textbooks among the students of primary and secondary level across the country, he said.
Terming poverty the major cause for dropout of students at primary and secondary level, he said the government provides stipend to 40 percent rural students.
CAMPE Executive Director Rasheda K Chowdhury, also former adviser to a caretaker government, placed an eight-point demand to implement the policy.
The points include formulation of a specific strategy paper, formation of 'watch group' to monitor success at grassroots level, necessary budgetary allocation, and comprehensive efforts of the government and concerned agencies.
