Fire guts 38 houses, 6 shops

At least 38 houses and six shops were gutted in a fire in Abu Mokarram Colony in South Halishahar area in the city yesterday. The fire originated from a short circuit around 10:00am and engulfed the adjoining houses and shops. Nine fire fighting units doused the blaze within one hour. Valuables worth Tk 30 lakh were gutted in the fire, sources said.
