HC scraps Makbul's jail term

The High Court yesterday scrapped 13-year jail term of former Awami League lawmaker Makbul Hossain in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission. A Special Judge's Court on May 6, 2008 convicted Makbul and sentenced him to 13-year imprisonment in the case filed on charges of amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about it. An HC bench of Justice Md Abdul Hye and Justice Md Abdur Razzaque delivered the verdict overturning the special court judgment.
