Road accidents kill nine

At least nine people were killed and 30 others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Natore, Jhenidah, Mymensingh and Brahmanbaria districts on Tuesday night and yesterday. Our correspondent from Chittagong reports: One person was killed in a road accident while he was crossing road after get down from a tempo in front of Karnaphuli Industries Limited near Bayezid area at around 8:30am yesterday. The deceased is Md Shadat Hossain, 24, son of Abul Hossain, resident of Sandwip colony of Bayezid area. In another accident a five-year-old boy was killed in a road crash when a truck run over him at Mannan Colony near Salt Gola crossing area in the port city yesterday. The deceased is identified as Shawkat. Our correspondent from Natore adds: Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident when a Rajshashi-bound bus collided head-on with a motorbike in front of Bachchu brick kiln at Ekdala in Natore Sadar upazila yesterday. The deceased is Mostafa Akkhanda, 25, son of Amir Hossain of Kaukhali village of Pirozpur and Pintu, 25, son of Abdur Rahman, resident of Meherchandi of Rajshashi city. Our correspondent from Jhenidah says: One motorcyclist was killed and another injured in a road crash on Jhenidah-Chuadanga high way while a speedy passenger bus hit them at Baidanga Bazaar in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. The deceased is Nazrul Islam, 38, son of Hakim Mollah of Barosalua village under Chuadanga and injured Habibur rahman, 35, of Chorkol village of Sadar upazila. Our correspondent from Mymensingh says: Two people were killed and 25 others injured in a road accident when a Mymensingh-bound passenger bus skidded off road and turned turtle at Gopalpur Bus Stand area on Mymensingh-Sherpur road in Phulpur upazila yesterday. Police seized the bus but its driver fled the scene. Our correspondent form Brahmanbaria reports: Two persons including a woman were killed in a road accidents while a head-on collision took place between a tractor and a CNG-run tempo on Comilla-Sylhet highway at Radhika village of Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila yesterday. Agitated people blocked the highway following the accident for an hour. The deceased are CNG-run tempo driver Md Sawpan Mia, 45, and a woman passenger Tara Banu, 40, of Chandrapur village of Kasba upazila.
