OMS dealer arrested
Police arrested an open market sale (OMS) dealer yesterday for misappropriating rice meant for sale among the low-income group people in Rober Mor area of Rajshahi city.
Sayed Ali, the dealer in connivance with his associate Shariful Islam, was allegedly distributed lower quantity of rice in the area.
Shahadat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station, said the arrest was made following protests of buyers.
Suruj Ali, a tea stall owner, protested after he found the dealer giving him 500gm less in five Kgs of rice.
A case was filed against three persons including the dealer. The other accused are absconding.
