3 cops killed in road crashes

Three policemen among four people were killed and 31 others injured in road accidents in Pabna and Netrakona on Saturday night and yesterday. Our Pabna correspondent reports: Three policemen were killed and six others injured as their microbus overturned near Pakshey Lalon Shah Bridge in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna Saturday night. The deceased are sub-inspectors Md Samrul Islam, 42, and Mahbubul Alam Mahbub, 40, and Md Rafikul Islam, 45, of Bheramara Police Station. The injured were admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Samrul died on the spot, Rafikul on the way to the general hospital, and Mahbub at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Our Netrakona correspondent adds: A man was killed and 25 others injured when a bus plunged into ditch at Joypasha of Madan upazila in the district yesterday. Abdul Kaium, 54, of the village Joypasha died on the spot. Four of the injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and others to local health complex. The bus was bound from the district sadar to Madan.
