3 Dhaka-Delhi deals come into effect
Three agreements between Bangladesh and India, including one on transfer of sentenced persons, came into effect from yesterday following the signing of the protocols for exchange of instruments of ratification in respect of the agreements.
Home Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Rajeet Mitter signed the protocols on behalf of their respective governments at the home ministry in the city yesterday.
The deals are on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters; transfer of sentenced persons; and combating international terrorism, organised crime and illicit drug trafficking.
The three agreements were signed earlier when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited New Delhi in January last year.
