Road crashes kill 7
Seven people were killed and 20 others injured in road accidents in Pabna, Dinajpur, Kishoreganj and Noakhali yesterday.
Our correspondent from Pabna reports: Three people, including a father and his daughter, were killed and 15 others injured when a Dhaka-bound bus hit a local bus on Dhaka-Pabna highway at Madhpur of Santhia upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Md Liakot Ali, 45, his daughter Runa Khatun, 25, also a student of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute and Sajeda Khatun Brishty, 22. Of them Liakot and Runa are resident of Teligram village of Sadar upazila and Brishty is resident of Radhanagar area.
The injured passengers are admitted to Pabna General Hospital and local clinics.
Our correspondent from Dinajpur adds: A mother was killed and her three-year-old son injured critically in a road accident when a Dinajpur bound speedy truck hit a rickshaw van on Dinajpur-Hakimpur road at Basudevpur village of Hakimpur upazila yesterday.
The deceased are Shabana Begum, 20, wife Md Babu of village South Basudevpur of Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur. Badsah a three-year-old son of Shabana admitted to Hakimpur Health Complex.
In another accident, a shallow run three-wheeler hit a bicyclist, Mamunul Islam, 25, son of Nizam Uddin of village Raghunathpur on Dinajpur-Bochaganj highway at Dhukurjhari intersection leaving him injured critically. Locals rushed him to Biral Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries.
Our correspondent from Noakhali says: A school boy was killed in a road accident when a Comilla-bound bus hit Md Shabbir, 8, son of Md Abdul Khalil of village Bazra, in front of Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex yesterday while he was crossing road after closing of his KG school. The boy died on the spot.
After hearing the news of accident locals and students blocked the Chaumuhani-Sonaimuri road.
Our correspondent from Kishoreganj adds: A five-year-old boy, Kousar son of Kanchan Mia of Shibpur village, was killed and five others were injured in a road accident when a Tarail-bound three-wheeler skidded off road into a roadside ditch at Kauli of Tarail upazila.
The accident took place on Mymensingha-Tarail highway yesterday.
