To the Railway Minister

Mahmud Ali, New Eskaton Road, Dhaka
My wife and I went to Khulna on 2nd December 2010 by Sundarban Provati Express in first class chair coach. But the train journey was horrible. It appeared that the coach bearing number 3105 had not been cleaned properly for many years. Many passengers boarded the train from different stoppages without tickets. The speed was very slow though this broad gauge line locos used to run at speeds exceeding 50 miles an hour during British rules as I experienced. Enough is preached about development of Railways during every budget but the results speak otherwise. It took more than ten hours to reach Khulna, a distance of about 300 miles or less. The journey from Khulna to Bagerhat by minibus was also horrendous. Railway services between Khulna and Bagerhat was closed a decade back. The minibus had ten rows of seats and it was very difficult to sit there because of inadequate leg space while a dozen people stood in the alley. How did BRTA give permission to design such a critical sitting arrangement? The return journey from Khulna by Chitra Express was no better in the context of cleanliness, hygiene or so. Should not the minister of communications, the best dressed handsome cabinet member, look into the matter by visiting railway station, railway coaches, incidental facilities at intervals so that passengers are benefited?
