All are not equal in the eyes of law

There is a proverb in Bangla, "Ain er chokhe shobai shoman" meaning "all are equal in the eyes of law". May be many years ago this proverb was true, may be in those days rich and poor, weak and strong used to get equal treatment in the courts and the above proverb was created at that time. The situation has now changed with the change of time. Also the gap between the rich and poor has widened a lot. In 21st century, the theory of justice is changed and “law is for powerful and rich and not equal for all". In favour of my belief, I would like to mention a few examples in Bangladesh. A big businessman reportedly killed his business partner about 4/5 years ago. The police have reportedly completed the investigation. The Bangladeshi court could not yet frame charge-sheet against the suspects. Many powerful politicians and high profile businessmen have been freed from charges of corruption and crimes. Many cases have been withdrawn terming them as "politically motivated". My question is, are they not "above law"? Only the poor suspects get their cases heard if the plaintiff is strong. If both are poor, the suspect lives in jail without a trial for a lifetime. So, all are not equal in the eyes of law is the truth, at least in Bangladesh.
