Govt-run crop purchasing centres demanded
Bangladesh Krishok Samity, an organisation of farmers, yesterday demanded introduction of government-run crop purchasing centres at union parishad level to buy rice directly from farmers.
At a news conference at the city's Mukti Bhaban, the organisation also demanded rice price be fixed at a minimum of Tk 800 per mound (40kg) to ensure just price.
Krishok Samity president Morshed Ali and general secretary Sajjad Jahir Chandan spoke at the programme among others.
