Eight injured as BCL rivals clash

At least eight activists were injured in clashes among rival factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Bakerganj upazila town in Barisal yesterday over formation of BCL upazila and municipal committees. Among the injured, the upazila organising secretaries Khan Abul Kalam Azad and Saiduzzaman Rubel; and activists Asim Fakir, Shamim Hossain and Zamal Hossain; were sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. BCL activists led by Saiful Dakua, Sumon Daku, Miraz and Sohel attacked and ransacked Saiduzzaman's shop near Balur Math and severely beat him. A clash soon ensued between followers of the secretaries, police said.
