'Ensure equal rights of women'
Bangladesh National Women Lawyers' Association (BNWLA) yesterday recommended insertion of a provision in the constitution declaring equal rights of women in all spheres.
It placed the recommendation to the parliamentary special body on constitutional amendment.
The recommendations include insertion of "ethnicity, sexual orientation, marital status and disability" in places of "religion, race and birth place" in the charter.
BNWLA executive director Salma Ali said if the scope of equal rights and opportunities cannot be specified in the constitution, violence against women would continue.
