Pro-AL panel sweeps CU teachers' body polls
Pro-Awami League yellow panel teachers won all the seats in the elections for syndicate, academic council and finance committees by defeating pro-BNP-Jamaat white panel teachers in Chittagong University (CU) yesterday.
The syndicate committee comprises four posts of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and lecturer, academic council committee comprises six member posts and finance committee comprises a teachers' representative post.
Election Commissioner and also acting CU Registrar Prof Dr Mohammad Shafiul Alam said 525 voters, out of 548, cast their votes in the polls held in the auditorium of social sciences faculty from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Prof Dr Irshad Kamal Khan, Associate Prof Dr Mohammad Nasim Hasan, Assistant Prof Quazi SM Khasrul Alam Quddusi and Noeem Uddin Hasan Aorongojeb Chowdhury were elected syndicate members.
Associate Prof Mohammad Jamal Uddin, Associate Prof Md Sahidur Rahman, Assistant Prof Deepannita Bhattacharjee, Assistant Prof Mohammad Mir Saifuddin Khaled Chowdhury, M Jashim Ali Chowdhury and Biswajit Nath were elected academic council members.
Prof Dr Md Ali Asraf won the teachers' representative post in the finance committee poll.
