English language fairs foster learning
Hundreds of students rolled into join the dynamic learning experience at the English language fair, a joint initiative of The Daily Star and Robi, held in Kishoreganj and Bogra yesterday.
The fair kicked off at Bazitpur upazila in Kishoreganj where around 700 students participated from the upazila's Sararchar Soudamoni Surabala Girls High School, where the fair was held, and Aftab Uddin School and College.
The latter's school headmaster Md Ashraful Huq inaugurated the daylong fair where teachers and family members of the students were present.
Appreciating the concept, the headmaster said the fair was a door of hope for learning English language for the local students who need to learn the international language to prosper worldwide.
The event started with the screening of the English animation film The Lion King, based on which the students took part in various learning activities like spot quiz, vocabulary test, role play and extempore speech.
Winners of the activities were awarded prizes at the end of the programme.
''This wonderful event has created scope for us to learn English in an unique and interactive way…I want to attend more of such events," said Kabita Akter, a class nine student of Surabala school, who won two prizes.
Meanwhile, our Bogra correspondent says, more than 300 students of Bogra Govt Girls High School and Bogra Central High School spent a similar eventful day at the English language fair held in the latter's school auditorium yesterday.
The latter's principal Rabeya Khatun was present as the chief guest at the programme.
