Check-up to fight cancer stressed
Speakers at a seminar emphasised checking up breasts once in a month as early detection of breast cancer can save women from the silent killer disease.
After the discussion, the experts clinically examined 30 women, out of 300.
The seminar on breast cancer followed by a screening (detection) and prevention camp was held in Upazila Parishad Auditorium of Rangpur yesterday morning.
Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research (CCPR) organised the event.
Dr Md Habibullah Talukder, head of the Cancer Epidemiology department of National Institute of Cancer Research Hospital, Dhaka and adviser CCPR spoke at the seminar as the chief guest while UNO, Sadar, Mostain Billah was in the chair.
Rotarian Hosneara Begum, Dr Somorpita Gosh Tania, associate professor of Gynaecology of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), Begum Nurunnesa, ex- Rotarian of Dhaka district unit also spoke.
Meanwhile, another similar seminar was held at TMSS Medical College in Bogra in the afternoon, said organiser sources.
