Youth injured in 'shootout'

A youth sustained bullet injury in an alleged shootout between police and his gang members at Kunipara in the city's Tejgaon Industrial area last night. Sumon, 21, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with bullet wounds at his right leg. Police said the shootout ensued when the youths opened fire at police to escape as a police patrol team asked them to halt while they were walking past around 8:30pm. After the gunfight, Sumon was found left on the spot with a revolver while others fled away, police added.
