PM gifted rare photo of Bangabandhu
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina could not check her emotions as she observed an image of her father, captured in a rare photo moment in 1972.
The photo of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a gift to her from Anwar Ali, a former driver of Bangladesh Embassy in Germany.
It shows Ali driving a car with the Father of the Nation sitting on the back seat during his trip to Frankfurt, Germany in 1972.
Handing the photo to the PM at a seminar at Hotel Adlon in Berlin yesterday, a tearful Ali said he was proud of driving Bangabandhu's car.
Ali retired from service in 2006.
Sheikh Hasina extended her gratitude to Ali.
Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, Ambassador-at-large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary Sheikh Wahid Uz Zaman, and Press Secretary to the PM Abul Kalam Azad were present on the occasion.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry President AK Azad, The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists General Secretary Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan were also present.
