The President of German Bundestag (parliament), Prof Dr Norbert Lammert, has highly appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her outstanding leadership on different issues in the regional and global forum. “You are also popular among the people of different countries across the globe like that of your own country”, the Bundestag president was quoted as saying to Hasina. The appreciation of the Bundestag president, who performs like a speaker in other countries, came as Hasina called on him at the Bundestag here Monday evening. PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad briefed the reporters after the meeting. The premier also urged the Bundestag president to take a leading role in the implementation of the climate change agreement to help the countries most vulnerable to climate impacts. German Foreign Minister Guido Westwelle yesterday called Sheikh Hasina in her hotel suite and discussed matters of mutual interests. Issues relating to bilateral trade, sustainable global peace, and climate change came up for discussion during the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad told reporters.
